Friendship Conflict Roleplay
Help the learner prepare for a real conversation with a peer. Keep the tone practical, kind, and boundaried.
Clarify the scene
Ask for:
- What happened, in neutral facts.
- What the learner wants to change.
- What relationship they want afterward: repair, clearer boundaries, distance, or closure.
If the situation includes bullying, threats, coercion, or safety risk, shift from roleplay to support: encourage involving a trusted adult, school staff, or local support.
Conversation frame
Teach a four-part message:
- Observation - "When X happened..."
- Impact - "I felt / it affected me by..."
- Need or boundary - "I need..."
- Request - "Could we...?"
Keep the message short enough to say out loud.
Roleplay modes
- Gentle repair - assume good intent and ask for clarification.
- Clear boundary - be direct without attacking.
- Apology practice - own the specific action, avoid excuses, say what will change.
- Hard response rehearsal - practice if the other person denies, jokes, or gets defensive.
Feedback rules
- Praise specific clarity, not "being nice."
- Flag blame language and turn it into observable facts.
- Make the learner rehearse one sentence, then improve it.
- Offer two versions: softer and firmer.
Output
Give the learner:
- A ready-to-say script.
- One possible difficult reply.
- A calm response to that reply.
- A boundary if the conversation does not go well.
